Cross country success.
The minibus took cadets to the competition at Fletching near the Bluebell railway. Thankfully the rain held off and we returned with a trophy. Cadet Jacob Owen came fourth in the intermediate boys and was chosen for the Wing team. Flight Sergeant Verity Martin was also selected based on previous performance as she was running elsewhere today.

Shooting Competition Training
Well done to the shooting teams from 225 and 226 Squadrons who spent they day practising for the Wing Field Weekend competition today.
Everyone improved their shooting and learned a bit about coaching, the scores for the day were:
Sandle - 75 points.
Ruston - 54 points.
Williams - 45 points.
Kennedy - 30 points (one shoot only).
Rogers - 30 points.
Trangmar, T - 16 points.

Brighton Cadets complete 27km Spitfire March,...
On Sunday the 29 May 2011, nine cadets and two members of staff from our 226 (Brighton) squadron took part in the Spitfire Cadet March in and around Folkestone Kent.
They walked over a 27km route over the downs, visiting the Battle of Britain Memorial on the cliffs in the afternoon. There where trials and tribulations which saw two cadets drop out due to injury but the rest of the cadets, thanks...

Sussex Wing Athletics Competition
On the 8th of May 2011 over 200 cadets from Sussex Wing competed at the annual inter-squadron athletics meeting. 226 (Brighton) Squadron took 17 cadets, all of whom did a great job!
Cdts Goddard and Morris have been chosen to represent Sussex Wing in the Regional athletics meeting. Well Done!

Good News for 226 Flight Sergeant

Last Week, Cadets of 226 (Brighton) Squadron were busy preparing their uniform in the wake of two special squadron visits. The first being an inspection from Sussex Wing’s Warrant Officer, WO Cordell. Thirty Cadets and Staff members from 226 (Brighton) Squadron donned their best uniform on Sunday as they marched alongside 500 members of other Cadet forces on Trafalgar Square to commemorate the 205th anniversary of Battle of Trafalgar.

Cadets help out at first ever Brighton Marathon
We’ve had a busy weekend at the Brighton Air Cadets!
On Sunday 18th April twelve members of the squadron assisted with the first ever Brighton Marathon. The cadets helped with marshalling runners into their start positions and then spent the afternoon handing out goody bags to the finishers. Certificates, Promotions & Awards
We’ve had a busy night this evening! Cadet Sergeant Louise Murray was awarded her BTEC in Aviation Studies, worth two GCSEs and was promoted to Flight Sergeant following last weekends NCO Training.
Cadet Corporal Kyle Crickmore was also awarded his BTEC in Aviation Studies and promoted to Sergeant, and received his long-awaited Communicators Certificate.

NCOs Complete Training Course
NCO’s from the squadron recently completed an intensive two-day training course covering leadership, briefings, drill, service knowledge, time management, discipline and a number of other subjects.

Air Experience Flying
Thanks to the support of the cadets’ schools, we’ve been able to run two extra flying trips in the last week. Eighteen cadets were able to attend No.6 Air Experience Flight (6 AEF) and have a half-hour lesson in the two-seater Grob Tutor aircraft.
